What is the difference between Dynamic- and Static QR codes?
Updated over a year ago

Dynamic QR codes and Static QR codes are two different types of QR codes that serve different purposes. Here are the key differences between them:

Content Flexibility

Dynamic QR Codes:
The content linked to a dynamic QR code can be changed or updated without having to change the QR code itself. It redirects the user to an intermediary URL, which can then be configured to point to different destinations.

Static QR Codes:
The content is fixed once the QR code is created. If you want to change the content, you have to create a new QR code.

Analytics and Tracking

Dynamic QR Codes:
Because they rely on an intermediary server, you can track various data such as the number of scans, location, time, and type of device used.

โ€‹Static QR Codes:
There is no tracking or analytics available, as the data is directly accessed from the QR code without an intermediary.

Costs

Dynamic QR Codes:
Often require a subscription or one-time fee, especially if you want to use analytics and other advanced features.

โ€‹Static QR Codes:
Can usually be created for free.

In summary, dynamic QR codes offer more flexibility and features but may have ongoing costs and rely on an external service, while static QR codes are simpler, self-contained, and do not have these dependencies or costs.
